When people see you wearing braces, somehow they just seem to think they are an open invitation to ask personal questions about your teeth, questions you might not want to have to answer every time you meet someone new.
If you want straighter teeth, without having to go through the process needed to achieve them and advertising your efforts to all and sundry, then Invisalign nearly invisible aligners could be the solution for you.
If you live or work in West Malling, Invisalign is available from One Smile Oral Care, conveniently placed in the high street and open every working day and Saturday mornings.
When you come to see us for Invisalign in West Malling, we can give you detailed information during your free initial consultation, but here is an overview to help you get the basics.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign clear aligners are different from the more well-known braces systems. They use transparent thermoplastic resin trays, rather like mouthguards, that slide snugly over the teeth. These trays are so thin that it is almost impossible to see them.
Your trays are made specifically for you, from impressions that we take here and then send off to the Invisalign laboratory in the United States. The lab also uses information sent by us to calculate the path the teeth need to travel along to reach their required alignment. The laboratory makes an aligner tray for each step. Each one is slightly differently from the previous one, marking another step along the journey your teeth will take. The pressure from each slight move forward in the tray design is what nudges the teeth along their path.
You need to wear each tray for about two weeks before moving on to the next one, and you will need somewhere between 12 and 48 trays, depending on your specific needs.
In West Malling, Invisalign has another great advantage in that the aligners are removable, so they are much easier to keep clean and so are your teeth. You can also leave them off entirely for a few hours if you have to attend an important social or professional event. The aligners should, however, be worn for at least 20 hours a day every day for the quickest results.
